Stretching for blocks along Hollywood Boulevard, the Walk of Fame lets you trace the history of entertainment one star at a time. From film icons to beloved musicians, there’s something fun about spotting the names you recognize. It’s lively, free, and always buzzing no matter what time of day you go.

Ovation Hollywood

Right at Hollywood & Highland, Ovation Hollywood is the beating heart of the neighborhood. You’ll find the Dolby Theatre, plenty of shops and restaurants, and one of the clearest public views of the Hollywood sign. Even if you’re not shopping, it’s worth walking through to soak up the atmosphere.

Visit the Hollywood Stairs

Right in the heart of Hollywood, just off Sunset Boulevard, the steps outside Hollywood High School have become legendary—not for tourists, but for skateboarders around the world. Known as the “Hollywood High 16,” this set of 16 concrete stairs has been featured in countless skate videos and is considered a rite of passage for pros pushing the limits.

Angels Flight Railway

Downtown LA’s quirky funicular, Angels Flight, has been climbing and descending Bunker Hill since 1901. For just $1.50, you can ride the short but iconic railway that’s been featured in movies like La La Land. It’s a quick stop, but one that connects you to the city’s history in a charming way.

The Last Bookstore

This downtown institution isn’t just a place to buy books—it’s an experience. Griffith Observatory

Opened in 1935, this observatory is also a planetarium and museum. The ceiling artwork features colorful murals that are a mixture of the mythological and cosmos. Experience phenomenal views of the Hollywood sign. The LADOT DASH Observatory/Los Feliz bus is the easiest and most budget-friendly way to reach Griffith Observatory without worrying about parking or traffic.

The Broad

Located in Downtown LA, the contemporary art museum is free and features more than 2,000 pieces from postwar and modern artists. Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room—The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away is also free but you will need to book your ticket ahead of time.

Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)

Right across the street from The Broad, MOCA focuses entirely on modern and contemporary art. The rotating exhibits often highlight bold, thought-provoking pieces from artists around the globe. It’s smaller and more intimate than The Broad, but just as inspiring—and also completely free to enter.
